I’m delighted to be able to share this River Cottage Wedding shoot, inspired by the tales of Peter Rabbit. It is set at River Cottage in Axminster, amid the beautiful kitchen gardens. With a bounty of succulent vegetables and blooming flowers, the garden was the perfect setting for the shoot.

The garden of River Cottage took centre stage for the shoot. The theme was Peter Rabbit and Mr McGregor’s garden. The aim was to demonstrate that the vegetable garden beautifully could style and accessorise any wedding. From the bouquet, buttonhole, table decor and the cake. The humble vegetable and a couple of fruits became the stars of the day. Utilising; Artichokes, Onions, Chives, Cabbages, Mint, Apples, Cosmos, and Runner beans. Whilst keeping a soft colour palette of greens and lilacs. All whilst still being stylish and elegant.

Claire from Claire Makes Cakes designed the cake. It was stunning spinach and lemon sponge cake with a buttercream filling and icing. Decorated with herbs and vegetables from the garden, it not only looked incredible it tasted it too.

Peter Rabbit Inspiration for a River Cottage Wedding

De Winton Paper Company created hand-painted stationery which featured elements from the garden such as a watering can and a trug of vegetables. Reminiscent of Mr McGregor’s Garden. The Lucky Sixpence created an amazing hairpiece, with diamante and fluffy feathers. It wrapped around the bride’s bun to look like a bunny tail. Moton Wedding Ring Company supplied hand made rings.

Kate Walker Bridal created the beautiful wedding dress worn by the model bride. It was a whimsical romantic dress, with a full chiffon skirt and a lace bodice. The dress was backless with beading detail.

Romance in the Gardens

I think you’ll agree if you love nature and the outdoors and want a wedding venue that will inspire, with homegrown organic food to feast on with your loved ones then a River Cottage wedding is what you’re looking for.
