There’s something deliciously intimate about a garden wedding. It’s that delicate blend of nature’s tranquillity with the energy of love, and when the setting is a family home with a view over the River Severn? Well, that’s when this Worcestershire wedding photographer’s heart skips a beat. Recently, I had the joy of capturing a wedding so unique, so beautifully real, that it left me reeling—and ready to tell you exactly why it stole my heart.

An Intimate and Familiar Begining To The Day

The day started simply, with the bride preparing in her childhood home. There, amidst cozy corners and the familiar hum of family, she readied herself to step into a new life. As someone who’s been in countless bridal suites and luxurious venues, there’s a charm to this sort of setting that can’t be replicated. It’s the warmth in every frame, the soft hum of memories as family and friends bustle around, transforming morning rituals into memories. For a Worcestershire wedding photographer, this is the stuff of dreams.

A Classic Car and A Local Church

The ceremony itself was held at the local church, just down the road. the simplicity of traveling a short distance to a charming, familiar place for the vows made the occasion feel deeply rooted in the couple’s shared history. A friend’s vintage car was on hand to transport the newlyweds, adding a lovely, personal touch that no hired vehicle could replicate.

A Unique Flyover Surprise

And then, as if that weren’t enough, a family friend brought out the big surprise—literally. In a vintage plane, he took to the skies, performing flyovers as guests gasped in awe, their faces lit up with pure, joy and wonder. A magical moment setting the tone for an extraordinary day.

A Picturesque Garden Setting for a Worcestershire Wedding

What truly made this wedding special was the enchanting atmosphere within the family garden. Nestled against the stunning River Severn and the rolling hills of the Worcestershire countryside, this picturesque setting offered a breathtaking backdrop for bridal portraits. Each frame captured not just the beauty of the couple, but also their deep connection to this cherished place. As a Worcestershire wedding photographer, there’s nothing more rewarding than immortalizing a couple’s love story in a setting that feels so personal and rich in meaning. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do

A Marquee Reception with Shared Serving Platters

Then came the marquee, and with it, a feast to remember. Nothing quite compares to guests carving shared platters, laughter mingling with the clink of glasses, each table like its own mini-family. And in a fun twist, the chosen “carvers” donned chef hats and aprons, bringing an irresistible dose of personality to every table.

Sunset Over the Severn: A Perfect Golden Hour

With a later ceremony time, we flowed effortlessly into that perfect sunset hour, casting its warm light over the river and the garden alike. Guests sipped their last drops, savouring the view and unwinding into the moment, blissfully content as twilight settled around us. Then, just as the sky blushed its last shade of pink, the music began—a seamless shift from sunset to dance floor. And with no need for pause or pretence, everyone joined the newlyweds under the stars, swept up in a night that felt endless, alive, and absolutely electric

As a Worcestershire wedding photographer, this garden wedding reminded me of why I love what I do. It’s not just about capturing a day; it’s about witnessing love in all its forms—whether in the family home, the shared meal, or the view over a river that sparkles just a little more with each new chapter. This wedding was proof that, with the right people and a little bit of magic, a garden can become the perfect stage for a love story unlike any other.
