You know those weddings where everything looks straight out of Vogue, but no one’s taking themselves too seriously? That was this one. A black tie wedding at Deer Park Country House that ticked every elegant box, then tore up the rulebook with a champagne tower, a dancefloor that didn’t quit, and just the right amount of unfiltered joy.
As a Devon wedding photographer, I’ve seen it all, windswept beach elopements, grand country house soirées, and everything in between. But my favourite? The ones that balance style with soul, where the details are beautiful but the energy is what you remember. This day nailed it.

Walking Through the Rose Pergola to the Summerhouse

The bride made her entrance through the rose-covered pergola, arm in arm with her proud parents The sun was streaming, the flowers were blooming, and the guests were craning for a first look as she stepped into the aisle to meet her groom at the Summerhouse for their outdoor ceremony.
They were married under that big Devon sky, surrounded by friends, family, and the occasional happy tear. And a first kiss that got the crowd cheering like they’d just nailed the final lift in Dirty Dancing. Then, newlywed glow in full force, they strolled back through the rose pergola together, hand in hand, pausing halfway for a smooch.

Champagne Tower Drinks Reception at Deer Park Country House

Post-ceremony, the tone was set immediately with a champagne tower, which I’m now convinced should be legally required at every wedding. There’s something about watching champagne cascade down coupe glasses that just makes people giddy. One guest described it as “like Jenga but you can drink it,” which, frankly, I can’t top.
With fizz in hand and canapés doing the rounds, the Deer Park lawns became a sea of black tie, laughter, and people strategically positioning themselves within canapé-delivery range.

Fun and Lively Wedding Breakfast in Devon

Here’s the thing, a wedding breakfast at Deer Park Country House is always going to look beautiful. But these guys? They brought the noise. Speeches that had people crying one minute, doubled over the next. At one point, napkins were being twirled in the air like we were at some sort of high-end cabaret. I’m not saying there was a table chant… but I’m not not saying it either.

Golden Hour Wedding Portraits in the Grounds

If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for the evening light at Deer Park. So we snuck off, leaving the guests to top up their glasses, and wandered the grounds. These two were naturals, no awkward “hold hands and look at each other lovingly” nonsense. Just easy conversation, teasing, a few stolen kisses and some proper belly laughs. And that golden light? Unreal.

Cutting the Wedding Cake in the Italian Garden

Cake cutting in a corner of the marquee? Not here. This was the Italian Garden, guests gathered, champagne still flowing, the kind of atmosphere where people cheer like you’ve just scored the winning goal. I’ll give them this, they cut that cake like professionals.

Bangin’ Dancefloor and Late-Night Pizza

You know it’s a good dancefloor when you lose track of whose shoes belong to who. It was a full-throttle, no-holds-barred party. Shirts untucked, questionable dance moves, the works. And the music? Banger after banger.
Just when we thought the night had peaked… pizza. Late-night, hot-from-the-oven, just the right level of greasy. I don’t care how fancy your wedding is – you end it with pizza, you’re a genius.

This wedding was everything I love – elegant and romantic, packed with glorious details and thoughtful little touches that made it truly theirs. The atmosphere was electric from the start, the kind where you can feel the buzz in the air, and the dancefloor? Absolutely banging. The kind of day you never want to end… and the kind of story I love to tell through my photographs.
If you’re planning your own Deer Park Country House wedding and want it captured with all the style, energy, and personality it deserves, let’s chat. I’ll bring the camera – you bring the party.
