I’m so delighted to finally be able to share this gorgeous Oriental styled wedding shoot jam packed with pretty pastel colours and lots of romantic details which which I styled and captured at the stunning Pennard House in Somerset.
This shoot has been such a long time in the pipeline, and I’ve been longing to style and shoot it for a couple of years now, since I first started came up with the concept. But after planning it for last year, the unusual cold and wet weather meant that all the blossom was late coming, and so I postponed it to this. This year the unseasonably warm weather meant that all the cherry blossom trees flowered really early, ahead of my planned schedule. So instead of postponing again I got creative and we used apple blossom on apple trees as a substitute and achieved an equally good effect
This shoot is inspired by the Far East. Predominantly Japan’s Sakura Season when the streets and parks are awash with pink cherry blossom. Taking the delicate cherry blossom as the theme and using this in the floral inspiration for the centrepiece displays and bouquet. The blossom theme is followed through in the loose flowing dress, with hints of pink and petals in the design, for a modern and western twist on the wedding dress.
Stationery and accessories draw from the Far East, by incorporating origami, and fans, with a reference in the design to the pink blossoms. The colour scheme is soft and light and utilises the pinks from the cherry blossom, whilst using the familiar aqua for contrast. The gold adds that extra luxurious touch to the look.
The completed look of the whole shoot is one that is soft, feminine, luxurious and romantic, with a subtle oriental feel whilst still remaining modern and achievable.
