One of the things that couples say they love about my images is just how relaxed and natural couples look in them, and how they too want natural wedding photos. Their biggest concern is that they feel awkward in front of the camera or are not particularly photogenic. Don’t worry that’s a totally normal response. Unless you’re a model or an actor, then you’re probably in the wrong job. I’ve got you covered though. With my wealth of experience, I’ve developed lots of tricks and techniques to help you relax and feel comfortable and bring out the ‘real’ you in your photos.

Here are my top tips on how to achieve the holy grail – relaxed and natural wedding photos.
IGNORE THE CAMERA
Nothing looks more staged and posed than a couple standing together looking directly at the camera. So ignore the camera and focus on each other instead. You’re so much more attractive and interesting than me and my camera anyway.
CREATE A CONNECTION
Whether you choose to hold hands, have your arms linked, hug or touch faces, creating a connection between the two of you and just chatting and enjoying the moment together always looks beautiful.
TAKE A WALK
One of the easiest and fastest ways to relax in front of the camera and achieve natural wedding photos is to hold hands and take a walk and talk to each other as you do. We can all do that, right?
HAVE A LAUGH
Nothing is more natural than laughter. So have a laugh and joke around. Be silly and be yourselves.
DON’T BE AFRAID TO IMPROVISE
One of the best ways to look natural and relaxed is to add movement to your photos. So have a dance and a twirl and pick the bride up. The result will be amazing. (See more of this wedding here)
GO FOR THAT KISS
Nothing looks more natural than a happy couple on their wedding day sharing a kiss or having a cuddle. So don’t feel embarrassed about PDA’s just go for it.
The truth is most of these “natural” wedding photos don’t just happen. They are a collaboration between us. A collaboration of my skill and expertise and your trust in me that I’ll make you look amazing. The situations that created the photos may be contrived. But the moments that result from them will be genuine. These are the “natural” photos that you see and fall in love with.
